Over the years our gymnasts [both Men’s & Women’s] have been selected to compete for Great Britain at Olympic games, World Championships, European Championships, Commonwealth Games [for both England and Wales], World Cup Events, World Student Games and numerous International Events both at home and abroad.
We are one of the very few clubs in the country that have produced both Men’s & Women’s Senior British All Around Champions, both Men’s & Women’s Commonwealth Games Champions & both Men’s & Women’s Olympic Games Team Members & Finalists. In addition to this our gymnasts compete at many County, Regional and National Competitions through out the year. Our members have amassed many Championship Titles and received many honours.
We are a part of British Gymnastics meteoric rise in the world rankings in recent years. In 2004 our gymnast Rhian Pugh won the first European gold medal for a British woman at the Junior European Championships in Amsterdam. It was the Championships that heralded the dawn of a Golden era of British Men’s & Women’s gymnastics and by Beijing 2008 Olympic success was becoming a reality. British stars like Beth Tweddle MBE and Louis Smith MBE became household names.
In 2014 our very own Claudia Fragapane emerged as a rising star for GB winning a historic four golds at the Commonwealth Games. GB gymnasts have continued to make groundbreaking progress with Claudia playing her part in that as a member of the Women’s GB team that won historic Bronze at the World Championships 2015 and as part of the Olympic Team in Rio 2016. Claudia continues her success becoming only the second British Women to win an individual World Championship medal which she achieved in Montreal in October 2017.
