‘Head Coach’: Sean Potter
SEAN is Head of Bristol Hawks Men’s Competitive Team. He is both a Level 5 ‘High Performance’ Coach & a National Judge in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics.
As a gymnast Sean represented England as a School Boy International and competed for the North East Region in numerous competitions including the prestigious Thames TV’s ‘Junior Gymnast of the Year’ at Wembley Arena in 1982.
His coaching career started at the club he trained at in Eston [now GymWorld]. There he coached, amongst others, the ex-Blue Peter presenter: Matt Baker & National Team Member: Ged Swash.
In 1994 he moved to Bristol and became Head of Men’s Coaching at Bristol Hawks. He has coached many Bristol Hawks Boys to G.B. National Titles including 3 time Elite NDP Tiltle winner & National World Class Start Squad Member Kelvin Williams. Sean also plays a part in developing the careers of other coaches through mentoring. His high performance remit is only part of his work for the club he is very popular as our toddler instructor and as coach to our recreational classes and is expert in designing & making equipment for the gymThe Picture below is of Sean & Helen Potter honeymooning in Japan at the Sabae World Gymnastics Championships in 1995
