West Country League Match#2 2013

Bristol Hawks girls Teams travelled to Swansea for the second league match of the year on October 6th.
All our teams were competing in the top division ‘The Premiership’.
Our gymnasts in the ‘A’ league team showed great presence for such a young team. They won the team GOLD placing first on every apparatus. Our reserve Chiara Fragapane stole the judges hearts on floor with a cute routine beautifully performed. Izzy Wheeler had a good all round competition finishing with a nice free cartwheel on floor. Dolshayea Bennett excelled on the vault where her great flight placed her 1st individually. Another Bristol Hawks gymnast gaining an individual 1st placing was Mayalee Osola with a very well controlled beam routine, she also placed 2nd in the overall standings. Erin White looked lovely on floor where her precise work was well rewarded. Becky James performed with great aplomb especially on beam where her amplitude earned her 3rd place.Roxanne Price also had a great all round competition [3rd overall], finishing with her dynamic floor which earned her 2nd place.
The requirements become harder for ‘B’ league but our team coped very well once again winning the team GOLD. Every girl contributed to the team score [where the top 4 scores on each apparatus are counted].Individual highlights included Ellouise Challenger’s 3rd placings on both bars and floor; Elize Waits great performance on beam [3rd]; Alice Wintle’s overall 2nd placing, she also placed 2nd on beam; Teagan Andrews individual 1st placing on the bars and Gabrielle Wild’s new piked tsukahara earning her 1st place on vault she was also delighted to win on beam too.
Premiership ‘C’ is the top level of the West Country Leagues and there was some great work on show. The Bristol Hawks girls won GOLD with a good mixture of style and difficulty. Leading the way was GB International gymnast Claudia Fragapane who won every apparatus, nailed her full twisting back somi on beam and scored 54.2 overall. Kathryn Heathcote was 2nd on floor with precise landings and well performed choreography, she also hit her new full twisting front somi dismount on beam. Third place on three apparatus was newcomer to the ‘C’ league 10 year old Izzy Davis with a great overall performance including new work. Rowena Needham also tried out some new work placing 2nd overall and also picking up a 2nd place for her difficulty packed beam routine.
It was a great weekend for all our gymnasts showing our strength in depth and wonderful team camaraderie.
