National Finals for Bristol Hawks Boys & Girls 2013

The first weekend in November saw 9 Bristol Hawks gymnasts representing the South West Region at National Events which took place in Birmingham and Guildford.
Competing in the top level for his age group in GB, the Men’s Elite Grade Level 1 Finals, was 9yr old Haydn May. Haydn completed all his routines cleanly to place 27th overall his best piece was APP where he placed 5th with a 9.20 score. In the Men’s CDP Level 3 Finals was Sam Haberfield who had a mixed day, producing a fantastic pommels for a share of 3rd place scoring 9.75. However a mistake on high bar dropped him down in the overall standings. In the Level 6 CDP Final Harry Andrews had a fantastic overall competition successfully competing his Tsukahara vault for the first time and placing 7th overall. The team won the Silver medals.
Bristol Hawks gymnasts made up 3/4 of the team for the South West region at the Women’s National Age Group Voluntary Level 4. Alice Wintle, Elize Waits, Emily Edge all competed well for the team with Teagan Andrews our reserve also putting in good back up score. The top scorer for the region was Alice who was competing in her first National final and had a clean competition, also in her first National final was Emily Edge who held her nerves together well to stick her beam. Elize Waits had competed for the SW team earlier in the year at the Compulsory finals. Elize’s GB ranking of 35th reflects the hard work she puts in training and is a great achievement. Teagan Andrews also competed in the compulsory & voluntary national finals and achieved a creditable GB ranking of 24th. In the Voluntary Level 3 [10yr olds] National Finals Gabby Wild was reserve for the SW team and Izzy Davis was selected into the SW team of 4 girls. Izzy routines showed her great potential but did not all go to plan on the day with two falls dropping her out of the top 10 on the day. However her combined score [compulsory & voluntary] gave her a ranking of 8th in Great Britain a fantastic achievement and one that will certainly catch the National coaches eyes.
