Bristol Hawks is very proud of Claudia Fragapane who was selected as part of the Great Britain Junior Team to the Coupe Avenir 2012 in Malmedy Belgium on the 17th & 18th November. This is Claudia’s first selection for the GB Team and was as a result of her fantastic performance at the Junior British Championships. Claudia coped exceedingly well with the new experience. Great Britain dominated the competition easily winning the team event and taking the first three individual medals on the first day. On the floor Claudia gave a very expressive performance with a solid double straight opening tumble and sky high double arabian. Her original choreography was admired by the international judges. Unfortunately, she mistimed her 2 ½ twist during the final tumble which meant she was unable to land the punch front on her feet putting her out of the apparatus finals on this piece, however she showed great character to bounce back quickly & hit her two difficult vaults to qualify for finals. She also swung well on the bars to qualify on this apparatus too.
The next day Claudia nailed both her full twisting straight Yurchenko & her tricky full twisting straight Tsukahara to add the Gold medal in the individual vault to GB team Gold. Bronze in the individual bars & AA meant she returned from Belgium with great results and having learnt a great deal about competing on the International circuit. Well done Claudia!
