West Country League Match #2 2012

Our teams travelled to Swansea on 21st October to compete in the second league match of the year. The Welsh welcome was as warm as ever and although the gym was chilly to begin with, it soon hotted up, as did the competition. Our ‘C’ & ‘B’ Premiership teams were in action first and they both won the top team spots & the gold medals on the day. What a great team effort our top team put in with a different girl winning on each piece of apparatus. Claudia Fragapane won floor with new highly difficult tumbles. Holly Downey successfully controled her landing on vault to win this apparatus. Rowena Needham hit her new routine, including her double back dismount, to win bars & top scored overall. Kathryn Heathcote hit her new bars too and was top scorer on the beam.
Our B team were equally successful with Paisley Boyce leading the way to win overall and place 2nd on floor & 3rd on vault with her new piked tsukahara. Isabel Davis won beam where she continues to grow in confidence, and was 3rd overall. Robyn Lacey won both floor & bars and was second on beam. With just four girls in the team and four scores to count on each apparatus Ellouise Challenger’s performance was crucial and she delivered her best backing up our team score and most importantly sticking her beam!
In the afternoon our A team performed well to win the silver medals. Teagan Andrews was the top scoring individual overall tied with Jenai Jeremy[from BSG].Teagan was also top scorer on both beam & floor, where she was first equal with Elize Waits who had a consistant day to place 4th overall. Ameeyna Porteus also had a consistant day to place 6th overall. Grace Cruikshank successfully competed her new flick tuck back somi on floor and was 6th on this apparatus. Erin White was competing for the first time at this level and did well to score for the team on both bars & beam.Well done everyone it’s all to play for in the Finals in November!
