Summer Olympic Games 2012

It was a Wonderful Summer!
Firstly congratulations to our fantastic GB Men’s & Women’s Artistic Gymnastic teams that produced historic results at London 2012 surpassing the targets set and winning four medals. Our mens team won the team bronze with Louis Smith & Max Whitlock winning Silver & Bronze respectively on the pommel horse. Beth Tweddle won the bronze on the A/Bars to crown a fantastic gymnastic career. These results create more great opportunities for all our GB gymnasts in the future as funding will increase for our sport and chances to shine on the world stage will increase.
Bristol Hawks international brevet judge and Olympian James May was in the thick of the action at the London Games in his role as International technical Officials liaison officer. He was in the competition arena for all the Mens Artistic Events. Also working in the competition arena as a volunteer was Bristol Hawks coach, former GB International gymnast and current international brevet judge Rhian Pugh. You might have spotted her marching round with a number of the mens & womens artistic gymnastic teams. Bristol Hawks gymnast Zoe Potter was lucky enough not to just get tickets to watch but also to meet Olympic AA Champion from Beijing Nastia Lukin.
Bristol Hawks would also like to congratulate former Bristol Hawks Elite Squad gymnast & now Olympian Katie Dawkins who shone in the pool competing as part of the GB Synchronised Swimming Team.
Back in training and we were delighted to welcome Irish Junior International Casey Bell as a visitor [Casey trains with the famous Salto club in Lisburn NI] into our summer training programme.
Our competition squads were also delighted with another visitor Olympic torch bearer Kelvin Williams [see ‘gymnasts’ section] who brought his torch into the gym to inspire everyone.
Only 4 years to Rio folks!!!
