South West Championships

Success again for Bristol Hawks at the Daphnie Leeworthy Cup. This competition crowns to the top female gymnast of any age [usually 12 years upwards] from the 7 Counties of the SW Region and this year was won by 12yr old Claudia Fragapane. Claudia, who is the current English Espoir Vault Champion, had a stunning competition not only winning overall but also top scoring on every apparatus. Champion Claudia pictured with Beth Northeast 2nd, Ellie Gittins 3rd & Kelsey Marratt 4th.
In the younger age groups Bristol Hawks Rowena Needham & Robyn Lacey took part in the 9yr old section [Level 4]. The future of SW gymnastics certainly looks bright with some exceptionally talented girls in this. Once again Rowena competed brilliantly, winning on the day with a clear margin over her nearest competitor. She also dominated in the Combined competition [Compulsory & Voluntary] and was awarded the title of South West Regional Champion in this age group winning by over 7 marks. Robyn continued the fantastic progress she has made this year by improving on her AlphaFactor performance particularlly on Vault & Floor to place 7th in the Combined.
