It was double success at the South West FIG Championships for Bristol Hawks. This is the top regional championships for women’s artistic gymnastics and mirrors the age group sections of the British & English Championships. It has traditionally been used as a build up competition for gymnasts wanting to take part in these National competitions.
Bristol Hawks had gymnasts entered two of the three sections and both won their respective age groups with style.
In the Espoir section [12/13year olds] Rowena Needham had a fantastic day including many new elements in her routines and achieving a personal best score of 50.13. She placed first on every apparatus with highlights being her signature element on bars; a new beam dismount and her ‘best ever’ floor routine.
In the Senior Championships Claudia Fragapane also took the top honours. She too performed new elements for the first time with her double straight back, direct into W jump giving her floor the wow factor.
