Stunning cut crystal that shines under the winners podium lights it’s no wonder that every year every gymnast wants to win a Rushmoor Rose Bowl.
This year the 30th Pearl Anniversary year was no exception.
Bristol Hawks gymnasts & team have had considerable success over the years with Bristol Hawks winning the Club Team section in 2006 & many of our gymnasts have been involved with South West team wins [including an overall win in 2002 & a section win in 2003] over the years. Bristol Hawks Individual winners of a Rose Bowl include four Rose Bowls for Rhian Pugh [Highest Score on any apparatus & Individual apparatus Asymmetric bars] an honorary Rose Bowl for Carolyn Fyfe in 2007 and a highest scoring gymnast u’13 Rose Bowl for Claudia Fragapane in 2010.
More success came this year with Claudia’s selection to compete for the England Junior Team. Claudia helped England Juniors win the silver medals in the team event with just the very strong England Senior team above them. Claudia then qualified for three finals and alongside her England team member Ellis O’Reily won her second individual Rose Bowl on the Vault.
With our team unable to have the benefit of Claudia scores we were at a disadvantage for this year in the club team event however our team pulled together to achieve a creditable 6th place. Each girl put in a valuble contribution to the team. Young Rowena Needham was our top scorer on bars. Zoe Potter crutially made her handstand on bars and put in a lovely performance on both floor & beam. Kathryn Heathcote produced a well flighted vault & a steady beam. Holly Downey was our top scorer on beam and scored for the team on every apparatus. Lauren Gore was our top scorer on both Vault & Floor and her outstanding vault qualified her for the final on this apparatus..
