National Compulsory Grade Finals 2013

The Elite sections of the National Grades are always hotly contested and with the eyes of not just the audience but also the GB National coaches upon them all the gymnasts were anxious to shine. The 13 regions of the UK send their best 4 gymnasts in each age to represent their team and individual gymnasts who reached the qualifying score at the regionals but didn’t quite make their respective team selections are also eligible to compete.
In the 9yr old age group: Level 4, there was a field of 65 competitors and the standard was high. Bristol Hawks had two members of the South West team: Teagan Andrews and Elize Waits. Teagan put in a personal best performance with her highlights being a well flighted vault and hitting her handstand on bars for a 5th place finish on this event. Overall she was placed 15th in GB, a great achievement. Elize Waits produced lovely work and topped her regional scores on three of the apparatus [including by nearly 2 marks! on bars] to also achieve a personal best score gaining her 36th place AA. They both helped their team to a 5th place finish.
In the 10yr old age group: Level 3, the general standard of work was amazing and at times breathtaking! Bristol Hawks gymnast Isabel Davis rose to the occasion with a fantastic all round performance that oozed quality. Particularly pleasing was that when given the tricky task of anchoring beam for the team she nailed it securing a medal for the SW team and a 4th place finish for herself on this apparatus. Izzy has made great progress this year rising an incredible 10 places from last year to place 4th in the overall GB rankings.
Well done everyone!!
