Junior English Championships 2012

Bristol Hawks was on the medal rostrum at the English Championships for the fourth year in a row. This time it was Claudia Fragapane with the honours. Claudia, who has just come back into training after a three week break due to injury, still managed to win the bronze medals on both Vault and Floor. She included her 2 1/2 twist into straight front on floor & double tuck finish but started with a relatively simple double twist. Not back up to full fitness she carried mistakes on both bars and beam which dropped her down the overall rankings to 12th. This was still an encouraging start to this exciting year with much to look forward to ~ the British Schools Championships next and then the trials for the European Championships soon after. Also in the Junior English Championships & the first time competing at this level was Lauren Gore. Lauren, who qualified for the British Championships for the first time at the Challenge Cup held in November 2011, was using this competition to try some new work in preparation for the British later this year. She competed well and it was especially pleasing to see her successfully complete her new bar routine. Lauren came 18th out of a field of 44 which is a great result and reflects the massive progress she has made in recent months. Well Done.
