English Championships

Bristol Hawks gymnasts Amy Sharp & Claudia Fragapane took part in the 2011 Junior Womens English Championships held at Fenton Manor on the 28th February. The Junior Mens competition also ran alongside & the top under 16 yrs old gymnasts from across the country put on an impressive display of gymnastic potential which bodes well for our continuing success as a worldwide force in both Mens & Womens Artistic gymnastics.
Amy elected to compete just on beam where she won the bronze medal for a routine that included both an illusion spin & a double spin. Her performance confirms her place as one of the top gymnasts of her age in the country on this apparatus.
First year junior 13 year old Claudia jumped up the national rankings to place 5th Overall and just missed out on the medals placing 4th on both the Vault & the Floor exercises. She successfully included new elements ~ full twisting yurchenko vault & sheep jump on beam and finished strongly on the floor with a jazzy routine that show cased her sparkley personality.
This was a great start to the year for these talented two who will next be in action as part of the Senior South West Team at the British Schools Apparatus Championships to be held in Newcastle at the end of March.
