Claudia Wins on her England Team Debut!

Isle of Man Junior International Competition May 7th 2011
Bristol Hawks are very proud of Claudia Fragapane who competed for England Juniors on the IOM at the weekend.

This was the first time Claudia has represented her country, she was selected for England Squad after her fantastic results in the English Championships & having attended England Squad training at Rushmoor she impressed the squad coaches enough to select her for the team. The team travelled to the Isle of Man to take part in a 4 way friendly international that proved to be a highly successful competition.
England won convincingly scoring 143.035 with Scotland 2nd 136.619 IOM [red team] 3rd 118.967 Malta in 4th with 118.868 & IOM [black team] in 5th with 116.852.
The hosts were using the competition as a preparation event in the lead up to the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games which will be held on the island in September. The competition was an ideal introduction to international competition for the young English gymnasts. They did themselves and their country proud by pulling together as a team and each producing some great work that demonstrated considerable potential for the future.
Claudia had a fantastic competition and won the individual all around competition scoring 49.667. Scotland’s Shannon Archer was 2nd 47.501 & Millie Kennard 3rd 46.534.
Apparatus medals were also awarded with Claudia taking Gold on the Vault competing a stunning Full twisting Straight Yurchenko & an equally well flighted Straight Yurchenko to score an average of 13.425. She also won on both Bars and Beam plus Silver on floor!!! Millie took Silver on Beam & Bronze on Bars & Ellis took the Silver medal on Vault.
The Isle of Man were fantastic hosts, friendly and helpful throughout. The girls attended a reception & disco on the Saturday evening where a good time was had by all. They had a chance to do a bit of sightseeing on the Sunday morning before flying home.
