Bristol Hawks took a squad of 9 boys to the annual Baskervilles Cup held in Bath on June 29th. Quality work ensured great success for our boys with a total of 3 Trophies & 34 Medals won.
In the youngest section our Development 1 Team led the way comfortably winning the team title by scoring highest on five out of the six apparatus.
Jay Franklin gave a brilliant performance to become the individual All Around Champion. He also took Gold on Floor, Pommel Horse and Rings and Silver on the High Bar. Team mate Calum Honey also shone winning individual Silver in the AA and picking up a Gold of his own on the vault, he completed his full set of medals taking a Bronze on the High Bar. It was a clean sweep of the medals for the Hawks boys on the High Bar where Noah Ford took the top honours, the Gold medal, he also won two Bronze medals on both Floor and Rings.
Freddie Butchers and Shay Vann-Hinds were our outstanding representatives in the Development 2 category placing third in the team event and 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Individual AA. Freddie struck Gold on the High Bar and held his nerve on the tricky pommels to take a Bronze here. Shay took three individual apparatus medals – Silver on both Floor and Vault and a Bronze on the Parallel Bars.
Ensuring Bristol Hawks won a team medal in each section, our team [minimum two people max of three] of Dylan Hunt, Haydn May and Peter Carter won the Bronze in the Development 3 category. Dylan was third in the Individual AA with Haydn 4th & Pete 9th. Dylan also won Silver on High Bar and Bronze on the Parallel Bars. Pete won three individual apparatus Bronze Medals on Floor Rings and High Bar.
In a fantastic debut competition Theo Birakos won the Cup for first place in the Individual All Around Development 4 category. He also picked up an incredible six individual apparatus medals – Gold on P/Bars and High Bar; Silver on Rings and Floor and Bronze on Pommel Horse and Vault.
All the boys have made considerable progress during this first part of the year and it will be exciting to see how they all cope with the challenging grades competitions that will take place in September. Well done boys and keep up the good work!
