The Bristol Hawks mens artistic team travelled to Barnstable to take part in the South West Regions Elite & Club Grade Qualifiers. The top six boys in Level 1 & 2; top 5 in Level 3 & 4 and top 4 in Level 5 & 6 will represent the region at the National Finals in Birmingham later in the year. Bristol Hawks boys excelled with 8/9 boys selected into the SW Team.
Competing in Elite Level 1 were Jay Franklin, Noah Ford and Callum Honey.
Jay was outstanding winning top honours placing first in the All Around [AA] with a 71 score AA including 4 scores over 9 his highest being high bar & app where both routines scored 9.6. Noah placed 3rd in the AA with his highest score on high bar 9.1. Callum showed great dynamics in his Vault to place 1st on this apparatus with 9.633 and 4th in the AA.
In Elite Level 2 Shay Van Hinds did incredibly well to place 2nd AA [and 1st on 4/8 apparatus]. This was a great achievement as Shay has made the step up from Club Grades last year to Level 2 Elite Grade this year.
In Club Level 2 Freddie Butchers showed just how much he has improved from last year by placing 3rd in the AA gaining 4 scores of 9 or above & booking his place on the SW team for the first time. Alf Mc Cullough also showed good progress placing 12th in the AA, a good rise in ranking from last year.
In Club Level 3 Dylan Hunt also jumped up the rankings to be selected to represent the South West region for his first time, he placed 5th AA.
In Club Level 4 Theo Birakos was yet another Bristol Hawks gymnast to storm up the rankings, placing 3rd AA and securing SW team selection.
Not to be out done our Club Level 5 gymnast Bill Mc Cullough took the Silver medal in the All Around.
A great set of results reflecting the hard work our boys team has put in through out the year.
