The annual BUG’s competition provides gymnasts with the opportunity to compete for county titles [gymnasts from Bristol County clubs only] & invitational titles at various levels [open to gymnasts from any club]. Bristol Hawks had a great day, winning 4 county titles & 7 invitational titles.
The day started well with Isabel Davis winning the Level 5 [8yrs] County title with a good all round performance that included a lovely, well executed floor routine.
Also competing in round one was Ellouise Challenger who won the Level 5 [9yrs] Invitational title. Ellouise has really improved her execution marks over the year and this showed on the day when her performance gave her an average of less than 1.3 marks in deductions over the four routines.
Bristol Hawks winning ways continued in round two where Robyn Lacey was champion in the Level 4 [10yrs] Invitation. It was pleasing to see her successfully compete her highly rated [start value 14.2] beam routine. In the Level 3 [11yrs+] Invitational competition Paisley Boyce & Zoe Potter were first & second respectively. Paisley put in a good all round performance with the highlight being her beautiful beam. Zoe shone on the floor where she successfully competed her new full twisting front somi.
As we went into the last round the day was hotting up and so was the competition. In the Level 4 [9yrs] County & Individual Championships Kayley Sharp once again produced a clean competition with a snazzy floor routine to take the Silver medals. In the Level 3 [10years] County Championships, National Squad member Rowena Needham won the County & Invitational titles to add to her SW Regional title. It was nice to see her successfully complete her highly difficult bar routine. In the FIG modified 14/15 years County & Individual Competition Lauren Gore & Holly Downey were first & second respectively. They both gave great performances particularly on the floor successfully landing their handspring full twisting front endings. Rounding off a highly successful day for the Bristol Hawks Team was GB Potential Squad Member Claudia Fragapane who won the FIG 14/15 years County & Individual titles with an outstanding performance which included a new element on the bars and gave her a very pleasing 50+ score.
Well Done to All!
