2017 European Championships

Bristol Hawks members:
Gymnast- Claudia Fragapane; Coach-Rory Weavers and Judge-James May travelled to Cluj in Romania to take part in the European Gymnastic Championships
Having taken an active rest from her gymnastic training to star in BBC’s hit show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Claudia had not expected to be able return to high-level competition so quickly. The original plan was to take her return to World Class routines slowly & build up gradually through out 2017. However, never one to hold back, Claudia regained her fitness levels in record time & incredibly earned her place on Great Britain’s European Championship Team for the 4th time in a row. It was her first International Gymnastics assignment since the Rio Olympics & Claudia proved she has still got the WOW factor combining her trade mark awesome acrobatic skills with new dance skills picked up from her time in Strictly to place in the top 8 & win a place both the Beam & Floor Finals [where she qualified with the 2nd highest score just missing out on the medals in the final this time due to performing her double Arabian with just at little too much energy!!]
Also selected by GB to be part of the Women’s Artistic Coaching Team was Bristol Hawks & International Performance Coach Rory Weavers. Rory’s experience at major championships helped Claudia to negotiate her return to the international stage and his expertise is a valuable asset to team GB.
Bristol Hawks was also represented on the Men’s Artistic side of gymnastics by International Brevet Judge James May who was selected as the ‘D 1’ judge on the High Bar for the Championships.
