Ellie Van Dongan

ELLIE is a Level 2 WA Coach & has also completed a Level 3 Sports Massage course. Ellie’s gymnastics journey started at Ville GC with coach Tina Field where she was a highly successful competitive gymnast winning both County & Regional titles & representing her region at National competitions. Her high ranking at the British Age Group Championships won her a place in the GB HND Squad for 2 years running. In 2010 Ellie moved to Horsham and trained with Sadie Herbert [Makinson]. Ellie continued to achieve great results winning County, Regional and English titles [English Junior Bar Champion 2012] and qualifying for the apparatus finals at the British Junior Championships. Her impressive results gained her a place in the English National Squad. She was first selected to compete for England as a Junior winning medals on Vault, Bars and Floor. In 2012 she was selected to compete for the England Senior Team at the prestigious Rushmoor Rosebowl International where she helped the team to win gold and also won an individual silver on the Floor.
An injury forced Ellie out of competitive gymnastics but with the support of her coaches she began coaching gaining her Level 1 & 2 WA qualifications at the same time as doing her ‘A’ levels. In 2016 she moved to Bristol to study Physiotherapy at UWE and began coaching at Bristol Hawks.
Ellie coaches both our award scheme classes and our Intermediate level classes. In addition to her busy schedule of studies & coaching she has also found time to volunteer as a sports masseur for the Bristol 10K Charity run.
Bristol Hawks is very pleased to have Ellie as part of their coaching team whilst she is a University. All our gymnasts benefit from her experience gained both as an International gymnast for England, a top class club gymnast, sports massage therapist and aspiring physiotherapist.
